Facilitator Code of Conduct

Holding This Work With Integrity

As a SPIRITUS Breathwork facilitator, you are a guardian and guide of sacred space. The people who come to you place deep trust in your care, often at their most vulnerable.

This Code of Conduct exists to honour that trust, to protect those you serve, and to uphold the integrity of SPIRITUS Breathwork. Every certified and in-training facilitator agrees to uphold it, throughout their training and their practice.

01

Scope of Practice

  • Facilitate only within the scope of your SPIRITUS training and certification.
  • Do not represent yourself as a medical or mental health professional unless separately qualified.
  • Make clear that SPIRITUS Breathwork is a complementary wellness practice, not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
  • Refer clients to qualified professionals when their needs fall outside your scope.
02

Client Safety & Screening

  • Screen every client for contraindications before facilitating.
  • Require each client to complete and sign a release form before their first session.
  • Never knowingly facilitate breathwork for someone for whom it is unsafe, regardless of their wishes.
  • Prioritise your client's physical and emotional safety above completing a session as planned.
03

Consent & Boundaries

  • Obtain clear, informed consent before each session, including for any use of touch.
  • Never use touch without explicit prior consent, and honour a client's right to withdraw it at any moment.
  • Never engage in any sexual, romantic, or exploitative conduct with a client. This boundary is absolute.
  • Be mindful of the power dynamic in the facilitator-client relationship, and never abuse the trust it carries.
04

Confidentiality

  • Hold all client information, experiences, and disclosures in strict confidence.
  • Never share identifying details of any client without their explicit written consent.
  • Store client records securely and in line with applicable privacy laws.
  • Understand the limits of confidentiality where there is risk of serious harm or a legal duty to disclose.
05

Trauma-Informed & Ethical Care

  • Practise in a trauma-informed way, recognising that breathwork can surface deep material.
  • Hold space without judgement, agenda, or the imposition of your own beliefs onto a client's experience.
  • Never diagnose, and never promise or guarantee specific outcomes.
  • Be especially careful with suggestion and influence during altered states, when clients are highly open.
06

Professional Conduct & Integrity

  • Represent your training, qualifications, and certification level honestly.
  • Do not teach, train, or certify others in the SPIRITUS method unless expressly authorised.
  • Respect the intellectual property of SPIRITUS Breathwork, and never reproduce or resell materials without permission.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance for your practice where required in your jurisdiction.
07

Non-Discrimination & Respect

  • Welcome and respect all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, or background.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful space for every client and community member.
  • Never engage in harassment, discrimination, or any conduct that demeans or harms another.
08

Personal Wellbeing & Ongoing Development

  • Tend to your own healing and wellbeing, so you hold space from a grounded, resourced place.
  • Continue to deepen your own practice and learning as a lifelong facilitator.
  • Seek mentorship or supervision when you encounter situations beyond your experience.
  • Do not facilitate when impaired, unwell, or otherwise unable to hold safe space.

If you are ever uncertain about the right course of action, pause, seek guidance, and let the safety and wellbeing of those you serve be your compass.
